While growing up I played mostly team sports like basketball, baseball, tennis and soccer. I never really enjoyed running because it was used as punishment.
When I got into college I had gotten out of shape, gaining over 20 lbs. I decided to give running a shot, and I loved it. From there I started racing in shorter road races, and then moved into multi-sport races (duathlon and triathlon's longest half ironman). After a handful of marathons I moved into ultra running (50K up to 100 miles), completing more than two dozen races including an 8th place finish at Western States in 2001. From there I took on my biggest challenge in 2012 completing my longest trail run along the Tahoe Rim Trail, completing a total distance of 170 miles and holding the 2nd fastest known time of 45:34. In addition to the above races, I’ve also completed several endurance bike rides including the Death Ride, Wild West and Levi's Gran Fondo. Additionally I currently instruct running at the La Puerta Wellness Resort in Mexico and work as a Finish Line Manager for the Western States Endurance Run. Finally, over the last several years I have had the privilege of joining the CIM (California International Marathon) pace team, helping many runners achieve PRs and Boston Qualifications.
After spending 27 years with the California Highway Patrol I learned to use running as my outlet for finding balance and peace throughout my career. That discovery led me to my desire to help others find the same reward.
